Los Angeles Has Banned Bags in 2014

As of January 1, 2014, single-use carryout plastic bags are no longer available at large supermarkets and pharmacies in Los Angeles. Paper bags will be available for 10 cents each.  To avoid this fee, shoppers are encouraged to bring and use their reusable bags when making trips to the grocery store.
Large retailers are: stores with gross annual sales of over $2 million selling dry grocery and canned goods; stores with nonfood items and some perishable items; and stores of at least 10,000 square feet of retail space with a licensed pharmacy generating sales or use tax.
