We’re looking for enthusiastic candidates who can commit to two meetings a month and don’t mind rolling up their sleeves. And if you you want to sharpen your artistic or professional skills, this is a great place to build a portfolio: community organizing, web development, public relations (PR), news writing, graphic design, video production, planning and land use, event production, accounting, law, disaster response, transportation planning, etc.
The role of the HSDNC is to:
- Advocate and represent our community’s wants and/or needs to local government officials and entities.
- Build government partnerships so that government is more responsive to stakeholder needs.
- Create a united sense of community.
- Decide how to spend the City’s annual financial allocation ($35,000 this year) for important community activities and projects.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Participate in at least two meetings each month (the General Board meeting and a committee meeting of your choice).
- Help in outreach to community members.
- Represent our community to government officials.
- Make decisions that will affect our community.
- Complete mandatory training within 30 days of being seated.
